ALIVE

getting of my meds a couple of headaches breaking a sweat summer is burning as though the world is on fire the smoke creeping into my nose up there until it reaches my brain there a whole new world unfolds dopamine and sertraline  given positive impulses and stimulations but now the child has left mother's womb having been nurtured now nurturing themselves the world feeling brand new every single day in the beginning walking cautiously on the grass the fields and forests talking its first steps like a new born deer first unsteady and terrified now standing tall on two feet face up into the sun an illusion of a halo trust me they aren't an angel they were once a fairy falling down to the earth hitting the stone cold ground blood and a concussion still they survived turned into a human a living breathing thing existing and suffering at the same time gentle spirit being tortured and torched tormented by their own existence burning down to ashes to be rebuilt again white small pil...

Fanny & Alexander

Image
I wrote this after watching "Fanny & Alexander" directed by Ingmar Bergman. Felt like a lifetime every feeling ever felt displayed in an epic three hour family saga characters written by  a wizard or an artist speeches, opinions and expressions feel relevant as to this day and age even though the story takes place 117 years ago in Sweden two kids a boy and a girl get to see how close yet how far the joy of life the agony of death the pain of loss the endurance of hell the creation of new live the birth of two angels that they call  sister and sister  now  are.

words can hit like bullets

Image
I wrote this in October last year a week after I read and heard about the recurring conflict between Palestine and Israel.  two opposing forces willing to slaughter the people they're supposed to protect too egoistic to sit down at a table and talk in times of war words can hit like bullets but wouldn't you rather fire sentences than lethal weapons? rather trying to look for some kind of peace than furthering the bloodshed and the massacres ruining the future of their children by taking away their lives their innocence being born into generational trauma without a choice is a warfare of itself warfare against human nature we want to erase you like a rubber erases all the lines you wrote on paper your culture your music your food the land which belongs to your ancestors who have endured and will continue to endure the violence follows them from birth to death transforming children into fighters throwing stones out of desperation learning how to fight learning about the revoluti...

I'm Coming Back To You

Image
As Julie London once sang " I'm coming back to you"! I have no clue as to who actually reads this blog but at least I'm stoked that I'm back after a long overdue two year break. Anyway I'll just keep posting stuff whenever I feel like it.  Last night I watched "Earth Mama" directed by Savanah Leaf. It's her debut feature and is based on the short film "The Heart Still Hums" that she and actress Taylor Russell wrote and directed. I was really surprised to see Doechii (known as a Rapper to me up to that point) playing the best friend of the movies protagonist, Gia. It's a very raw and moving experience to see naturalistic performances from the whole cast and at the forefront of it is Tia Nomore also known as a rapper in the Bay Area where big parts of the movie were shot. She infuses her character with an unwavering hope and has a heartfelt commitment to her two children who are in foster care as well as the baby she is expecting ove...

moved but not moving

Image
just sat in the cinema for one and a half hours in complete darkness haven't felt that kind of peace in weeks moving the focus away from myself to the screen surrendering to the director's vision to the moving pictures black and white frames of new york city of the forests in new orleans of the ocean and venice beach a man a kid a woman surviving laughing crying yelling living in all its ugliness and beauty I was moved but not moving. I was inspired to write this after I saw the movie "C'mon C'mon" this weekend. The best movies out there are the ones that inspire you to create art. And this one is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen.                                                          movie trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mzushAOM88 image source: https://images.app.go...

flower children

I recently reread the book "Just Kids" by Patti Smith. It is one of my all time favorites I would say. I love the way she talks about the relationship between the artist and his muse and I also love the way she thinks about art in general. Her description of living as young and penniless artists in the New York of the 70's seems utterly personal to me even though I was born in the 90's. The matter of detail and poetry in this book gets me every time. She made me feel as if I was walking the streets of NYC in the 70's. And she also inspired me to write the following poem. It is basically a lyrical description of a picture taken at Woodstock. I hope it takes you on a journey. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 I wish I'd been born in the 70's there's a longing inside me like I'm burning for this lost era peace, love and happiness it was the age of freedom it seemed to me like the age of art they could express themselves ...

When I look at the state of the world currently this is what came to mind. This is my soul speaking. This is my heart aching. This is my mind racing at midnight. πŸ’  Why do we trust in these institutions Why don't we start our own revolution Because it's all an illusion     Designed to keep our mind in cages Designed to control the rage of humankind     When we discover that everything around us is a lie We're prisoners in our own minds We could be free if we wanted to Everything we believe in is a fucking illusion πŸ’ WAKE UP!
